Agape Africa Fund collects and provides resources to support the missionaries and their medical work in and around Bongolo Hospital, Gabon, Africa.
Our Beginning
Agape Africa Fund was founded in September, 2016 to be the hands and feet to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the patients and missionary doctors and support personnel at Bongolo Hospital, as well as to provide spiritual and tangible assistance to the people in the small surrounding villages and the nearby town of Lebamba, population 5,000.

What is "agape"?

Agape (pronounced “Ah-gah-pay”) is a Greek word that implies giving selfless, sacrificial, unconditional love without any expectation of anything in return. It is the highest of the three major types of love (eros and phileo are the other two). "Agape" was chosen to be part of the organization’s name in memory of the late Rev. Edwin H. Sprague, who joyfully demonstrated agape to everyone he came into contact with. Sadly, Rev. Sprague suddenly passed away in June, 2016 at the age of 79.
Bongolo Hospital
Bongolo Hospital, founded in 1977, is a western-style, rural jungle hospital in southwestern Gabon, Africa. Approximately 350 miles south and east from the capital city of Libreville, Bongolo offers Christ-centered medical and surgical care to patients from all over Gabon and the surrounding nations. The sprawling 158-bed facility treats approximately 40,000 patients per year. The gospel is shared with everyone who goes there for care, and over 2,000 people welcome Jesus as their Lord and Savior every year. Please see below for a short video about Bongolo:
