Two Slit Microscopes for the Ophthalmology Department

The Ophthalmology Department sees 6,500 patients annually and every one of them is examined utilizing a Slit Microscope. These help the doctors to delve deeply into diseased eyes and aide in diagnosis, followed by treatment, including surgeries.

Currently, there is only one of these machines for all of the eye patients; the need is for two additional slit microscopes. The Bongolo team has identified two 10-year old refurbished ones that cost $1,500 each (new are approximately $7,500 US). Older equipment is actually a blessing because, unlike new computerized equipment, they can still be repaired by trained hospital staff.

A common diagnosis is the removal of cataracts, without which people are literally doomed to a life of blindness. Bongolo performs over 2/3 of all eye surgeries in the entire nation of Gabon!

Will you help them so sight may be restored and the Team can even more powerfully proclaim the Good News about Jesus, the Light of the world?
